One of the premiere aquarium stores in the Dallas-Ft Worth area. The staff is somewhat knowledgeable, they could have a better livestock variety, but the other products and aquariums more than make up for this. One caveat is this store is "expensive".
---------------
What a difference a few months make. When I first reviewed this store it was in glowing terms, I'm afraid I don't have much to glow about now. The store is as well stocked as before, with a great assortment of tanks and supplies. What seems to have gone downhill is the staff. More often then not they give out wrong information, and some even don't have a basic understanding of aquatic husbandry or so it would seem. On most of my visits I've seen tanks with numerous dead fish, including in one instance 2 dead Discus with 4 or 5 other sick ones in the same tank. The "sales associate" thought that by treating the fish he would somehow "hurt" the potted plants. Let see now lose 4 swords, 2 anubias, 10 bunches of hornwort, vs. 7 or 8 assorted Dicus (which they were selling for up to 80 bucks a pop, maybe its just me.

This store was rated by an alternative local paper as the #1 place to buy fish. I totally agree, this is where I do most of my shopping. They have it all here. Whereas in some stores there is one aquarium devoted to plants here they have between 8-10 for plants. The livestock is great leaning mostly toward freshwater, but the staff is even better, knowledgable, very friendly and helpful. Prices here are comparable to others sometimes better.

The staff at ABT is knowledgeable and pleasant. Their fish are of good quality and variety, and they freely pass on information and answer questions. They stock FW and SW fish, plants, live and frozen foods, tanks, stands, supplies. Although their supplies can be more expensive than the chain stores as most
smaller stores are, their expertise is well worth the price. I buy my fish nowhere else in the Dallas area.

This is a full line pet shop that has friendly staff and good ownership. The owner is a bird enthusiast. The fish section was under development the last time I was there, early 1997. The shop is located in a wealthy part of town and was kept clean. The owner previously had a store in Dallas that carried a good
selection of Fresh and minimal selection of Salt. The owner was willing to special order for customers.

Chain store which carries wide variety of animal stuff- store is
always, well lit and attractively stocked. Too often the sales
staff do not know their stuff, especially regarding fish and birds. Fish are sold with inappropriate aquariums and insufficient start up information. Goldfish are sold along with goldfish bowls. (Certain death!) Birds are sold with no information at all- birds require special diets, not just seeds, and have veterinary needs. A bird expert should be on hand at each store.

Comments:
Gone downhill in recent years. Store no longer as clean as should
be, always has a bit too much smell. Limited selection but healthy fish stock, tanks clean inside, but not so clean in area around tanks. Limited supplies of bird food. Sales of small birds
(budgies & cockatiels) are not ideal- too many birds in one cage-not enough light, water dishes often fouled, cages need more
frequent cleaning.

They carry so many fish I couldn't possibly list them all. You name it and they have it. If they don't have it, they will get it for you. I love this store because the employees are knowledgeable about fish and everything to do with fish. Whenever I have a question, they are happy to give you and answer and if they don't know the answer, they find somebody who does. That's why I think they will be around for awhile. Their prices, however, are a little high compared to Petco or Petsmart, etc.

Keller Farms in not really a farm, but rather an old converted house. The place reminds me of a haunted aquarium, creaky floor, twists and turns, and you never now what you're going to find in the next room. All that stuff aside this place is really fun, sort of like a scavenger hunt. Stuff packed up to the rafters, books in every nook and cranny. The staff was very helpful, and the livestock, leaning toward freshwater (including Discus my favorite) looked to be in good shape. The store is located in the northern part of Ft. Worth, and worth more than the occasional visit.
